ALSAC Leadership Board:
ALSAC (American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities) is the fundraising and awareness organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Founded in the fall of 1957 by Lebanese Americans, it united to support Danny Thomas’ dream “that no child shall die in the dawn of life.”
Never before in this country’s history have people of Lebanese descent joined together as a group to honor their forefathers. Danny Thomas would bring together the sons and daughters of Arabic-speaking immigrants who came to this country seeking a better life for their families. He would unite the Lebanese people in the support of a single cause to provide the funds necessary to maintain his dream: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Danny invited people of all backgrounds to dream the impossible of a world in which children do not die from cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
In later years Danny would go on to say, “founding St. Jude is the highlight of my life, because thousands of children are alive today because of our mission “no child should die in the dawn of life.”
With this mission always in her heart and in her mind, Lisa has been a constant supporter and advocate for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Since 2017 she has served on the ALSAC Leadership Board and continues to be motivated by her favorite Danny Thomas quote “Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It is what you do for others!”
Danny’s continuing dedication to others throughout his life serves as an inspiration to all of us.
